The garden was developed by French artist Jacques Majorelle, who transformed the grounds over several decades into a collection of exotic vegetation. Bright cobalt-blue structures provide a dramatic contrast to the greenery and are one of the most recognizable elements of Jardin Majorelle. This signature shade, now widely known as Majorelle Blue, gives the garden much of its distinctive visual identity.

Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé later played an important role in preserving and restoring the property, ensuring that its artistic character and botanical collections could continue to be enjoyed by future visitors.
